A note from miller/baker Steve:

Spring's here. Other than when fall turns chilly and the urge to bake kicks in, it is my absolute favorite time of year. Why? Farmers all over the Midwest are planting wheat that will become Baker's Field flour and bread in the not-too-distant future. So, right now, your bread is--quite literally--going in the field.

We're gearing up for our next Pop-Up, which will be Sunday, April 30 2017  (not 4/15 as we listed previously). Dogwood Coffee and Gray Duck Chai will both be there, and we will have a bevy of breads and treats for purchase. Mark your calendars for the upcoming Pop-Ups--Sunday, May 21 (during Minneapolis Art Crawl...come browse artists, as FOOD BUILDING is hosting visual artists and artisans) and Sunday June 18 (Father's Day...is there any better way to say 'thanks' and "I love you' than with bread?).

Hot Cross Buns (they are gorgeous, with icing flavored with freshly squeezed orange juice) are available through Saturday (April 15) at local co-ops: Seward Franklin, Eastside, and all three Lakewinds locations.

Hands-On Baker's Field Experience is coming! In May we'll announce more details, but we wanted to give an inside scoop that we will be offering a 2-day (weekend) class with me and BFFB bakers about milling, mixing, shaping and baking. Spots will be very limited. A perfect Mother's Day or Father's Day gift for the baker in your life.

We're proud to bring nutritious bread to Minnesota. When we first started working on BFFB, two mill/bakeries provided terrific inspiration: Elmore Mountain Bread in Elmore Mountain, Vermont and Boulted Bread in Raleigh, North Carolina. Like them, our goal is to make nutritious and flavorful flour and bread. Their commitments to local grain, fresh flour and the day-in-and-day-out approach to quality results have made them leaders in a small world of millers who bake.

See you at the Pop Up!
